I’ve been looking through a lot of merchant sites lately in a quest to find some good cost per sale programs to promote, and am amazed at what a terrible job many merchants have done with their websites at attracting affiliates like me. Many of these programs I’ve run across have the potential to be pretty amazing, yet they are poorly managed.
Not only does a poor website deter affiliates from promoting your program, I guarantee you are losing money through your other marketing channels as your site isn’t converting as well as it could be.

Earlier this week I got the feedback people wrote about the panel I was on at Affiliate Summit West 2011 about building the affiliate & affiliate manager relationship. For the most part we had some pretty good feedback and I think it went fairly well. However there was one comment that I’ve been thinking about from someone who either wasn’t paying attention to something I said, or I didn’t explain myself well enough.
I was talking about how affiliate managers need to understand their affiliates and know that each one is different. As affiliates not all of us like the same things or work in the same way, so affiliate managers need to understand what motivates each of their main affiliates, how they prefer to be contacted, etc.

While there are many CPA networks that I work with, there are only a few that I really enjoy working with. One of those is PeerFly, which truly stands above the rest. I’ll get to the contest that they are partnering with in a minute, but let me tell you a bit why I like PeerFly.
Their Control Panel Freakin Rules
Ok, maybe the control panel is not the most important thing to a lot of affiliates, but they make things incredibly simple. Their interface is custom built, its really fast (unlike some others out there that take forever to load), you can place your own tracking pixels and postback URLS (specific to each offer) and they have some cool tools such as a Firefox plugin and a basic mobile version of their interface.

Tis the season for Christmas gifts, and I just want to say thanks to all the affiliate networks who sent cards and gifts. It definitely means a lot to receive something from networks at the end of the year, even if it’s as simple as a card signed by their staff.

I don’t give praise to affiliate networks very often as there are only a handful of them that I just love to work with. However there are a few networks that I really enjoy working with and have to give them a shout out (such as my recent post on ShareASale).
Another network I really enjoy working with is Amped Media. They’re a small company, but are great people to work with. A little over a year ago I wrote a review of Amped Media, and my opinion of them is the same. I’m not just promoting them to earn referral commissions and blow smoke, I do actually work with them and like their company. Since that last post in 2009 I’ve earned over $116,000 in commission with them, here is a snapshot from my account.
