Does Money Have You Promoting Shady Affiliate Offers?

Recently I have been thinking a lot about the affiliate marketing industry and the perception people have of it. With the recent crack down on Acai fake blogs, government grant scams, and other shady services and products that are being pushed by affiliates, it seems that this industry isn’t viewed that highly of by a lot of people. Who’s to blame? Affiliate networks? Affiliates? Customers?
Last night I was talking to my dad, who isn’t the most Internet savvy guy around, and he was telling me his ordeal about how he was scammed with an affiliate blog. He had found a site saying to use both an Acai berry pill and a colon cleanse for maximum benefit to lose a few pounds. If you’ve been around affiliate marketing for more than 5 minutes, I’m sure you know what I’m talking about. He told me about the multiple phone calls he has had to make to try and cancel, the money he has lost, and how his email box is overflowing with spam. So was him falling for this scam completely his fault?
I would say no. The majority of the problems like this in the affiliate industry lies with the affiliate networks and affiliates who are out to make money no matter what the cost is to others. I would love to see a CPA affiliate network step up and quit offering these trash type of offers and start promoting offers that benefit the customer. There are definitely thousands of great offers out their ready to be promoted that you can pick that you can feel good about offering.
So what offers are you promoting? Do you feel good about the offers? Is the offer deceiving in any way? Are you running your affiliate business with integrity? Is it time for you to look closely at your business and really think about what you are promoting? Take a few minutes and really think about these questions and the direction you want your business to go.
I would love to see more integrity in the affiliate industry from both affiliates and networks so we don’t have a bad looking industry.

This offer hit you close to home when you see family members that have bin scammed.
I’d agree that its nice to have the high conversion rates & CPA’s. But when is it just to much.
Are Pingo phone card affiliate program pays just as much as these acai berry offers at up to a $35 CPA. But instead of a $3.95 shipping trial, we are just asking for the customer to spend $5 to give us a try.
Then instead of putting back end trick we take care of the aff. referrals to maintain a 95% customer retention rate This is how we can afford to pay so much without the back end catches.
Yet some affiliates pass us by on linkshare and stick to the somewhat shady offers.

Your absolutely right, I have paused my campaign yesterday so I can re-work my site and offer meaningful products. Ones that people can trust and see all the time in the media not the usual useless e-books I was promoting from clickbank. I should’ve done this right from the beginning. I’m still new but learning fast and I have a conscience. Thats why I ‘m starting over.
Thank You, I will be bookmarking your site and returning often. Great tips
