A lot of the questions I get asked by newer affiliates are really good questions, but honestly I can’t answer them as I don’t have the information they are looking for. It generally involves information about offers, demographics, landing page styles, etc. What a lot of people don’t realize, is generally their affiliate managers can give them a ton of valuable information to succeed.

With the recent crack down on Acai fake blogs, government grant scams, and other shady services and products that are being pushed by affiliates, it seems that this industry isn’t viewed that highly of by a lot of people. Back in 2001, I created a new website with a friend which is a Christian business directory. After a few months of running the website, I thought I would create an affiliate program for the directory and give commission for each new advertiser that joined the directory. In theory it made sense at the time as I didn’t know much about affiliate marketing, but in all actuality I was creating the worst affiliate program ever.

I was watching video today from one of the affiliate greats, Shawn Collins, where he has a segment “Ask Shawn Collins”. Basically users write him a question and he answers it on his blog. He is well known in the industry and provides some excellent advice. Anyways, he had posted this video a few months ago about faith based programs that I just stumbled upon that got me thinking.
