Hey Robbie. Since your first starting out, I suggest you stick mainly with affiliate links scattered throughout your posts and not worry to much about other monetization paths until you build up a solid userbase. Really focus for a few months to a year on building great content, getting other sites to link to yours, guest post on other blogs, and start building a following.

Try and connect with your followers as best as you can so they can start relating to you. Once you build that trust and that userbase, you can then start implementing a little more aggressive monetization.

Also it is very important that you start building up your email list as you will be able to keep in contact, build relationships, and make money in the future with your list. Best of luck buddy.

Hi Logan -
About six months ago I started a blog called DeadChurchRising.com and, after some social media advertising, it seemed to gain some traction. After a while I began wondering if I could make some side income from the site and, long story short, have just begun to include some affiliate links and am trying to get google adsense working as well.

I guess my question is this, of all the different ways to monetize a site, what would you recommend for a beginner...

As I mentioned, I've started putting affiliate links up but am not totally sure where to go from here...ideas?

I love unplugging for a while and watching people. It really is a good lesson sometimes and I always take away something that they are either doing right or extremely wrong like in your case.

We see this same thing happening online right now. People are sitting on Facebook and Twitter all day and never update or add content to their website. Then they can't figure out why their site isn't performing at all.

Exactly Geno. I don't think I do it to look busy either. It just becomes a habit that can get in the way of real productivity if not managed correctly.

Thanks for the comment.

I don't now if I'm doing these things (checking stats too frequently, replying to every email I get within minutes of receiving them, reading blog posts, etc) because I'm trying "to look busy", or if it may be qualified as addiction... but, either way, it certainly doesn't help the productivity. Off to shut down my Skype, Facebook, Twitter, and Google Analytics... to get some more real work done.... :)

Good time management post, Logan.

I am a freelancer myself. I didn't dump any of my clients at any time and completed all of the tasks appointed to me with sincerity and was rewarded with good feedback.

But, recently i have noticed an alarming amount of affection for writers from Philippines among the buyers specially among the buyers from USA. So, i searched the reason and got this blog.

The massage i want to give is, There are good outsourcers all around the world. Why choose them from one definite country. If an outsourcer of any country proves inefficient, then, it doesn't mean that all of the outsourcers in the country are bad.

So, please before appointing anyone make a good interview and judge deeply. You should get success in your business if you are sincere, don't blame a definite territory.
