Affiliate Summit East: Sunday Recap
Posted on 10. Aug, 2009 by Logan in Conferences
Sunday was the first day off Affiliate Summit East, and if I were to describe it in 1 word it would be overwhelming. Down in the meet market I felt like I was in the New York Stock Exchange with so many people and stuff going on. Although it was a little on the exhausting side, it was a great day.First off was the CAMA brunch in the morning. It was pretty cool taking the train over to Harlem and checking out the Cotton Club. The food wasn’t the greatest (first time in my life I had grits and I thought they were just bad mashed potatoes), but good music and some great people there. If you’ve never have been to a CAMA event, you definitely have to go in Vegas.
After that I attended the Get Noticed Fast session (although I forgot to get a sticker to prove I was there) which was led by Lisa Picarille (@lisap) and included Michael Buechele (@mikebuechele), Trisha Lyn Fawver (@trishalyn), Jen Goode (@JGoode), and Stephanie Lichenstein (@StephARC). It was a great panel to have present this topic since all 5 of the speakers are well known in the industry. Being a first time attendee at Affiliate Summit, it was cool to see some of the people who have branded themselves well and get there take on things. Most of it wasn’t ground breaking advice for me personally, but was good solid information.
The other session I went to was Advertising Tax Impact, Accomplishments, and the Future. Basically the discussion was about what’s going on as far as advertising taxes. This is a huge impact on affiliate businesses, and I was surprised at the lack of attendance. Monday there was another tax session, and according to Geno Prussakov, it wasn’t well attended either.
In between I checked out the Meet Market for awhile before heading out for the evening with Market Leverage at the yacht party. John Chow did a great post of the night if you want to read even more information. Check out his video and you will see me telling him how the contest for the iPods was rigged.
Overall it was a great first summit day.

Don’t forget to send over your yacht party photos! I’m also getting those iPods back from John, I knew there was something strange going on!
