Wow, it’s been way to long since I’ve posted anything on my blog. In fact it was April since the last time you’ve heard from me on here.
Seriously, I’m not dead.
Over the past few months my business and life have changed quite a bit.
This year I didn’t make it to any industry conferences except Affiliate Summit Central and Shareasale ThinkTank in Austin. I haven’t been anti-social on purpose, although I do miss seeing a lot of my Internet marketing industry friends.
What I’ve Been Up To
The nice thing about building up passive income streams is that I can step away for awhile and still make money to pay the bills. Over the past few months I’ve done very little marketing, yet I’ve been busy.
One of the reasons I haven’t written much on this blog is that I’ve been so busy writing a book. When I wasn’t working on my book, I was tired of writing and just didn’t want to write much any more.
No, I didn’t write some cheesy marketing book that is going to be outdated by the time it’s published. It’s not even an eBook. In fact the book has nothing to do with marketing. Instead it’s focused on one of my other passions. Craft Beer.
Yeah, that’s right. I love craft beer and have another blog that has also been neglected while writing my book about beer. While I’m still finishing up the final touches on the book, you can pre-order it on Amazon if your interested in Oregon beer.
Over the past few months I’ve been visiting many many breweries all over Oregon doing research on my book. I’ve really enjoyed it and the craft beer industry.
Where I’m Going
After spending more and more time in the craft beer industry, I’ve fallen in love with it. The people are amazing. The beer is incredible. It’s just a fun place to be. It’s refreshing to be in a place where everyone isn’t out to impress everyone else. People could care less about what kind of car you drive, how big your watch is, and how much you’re making every month. It’s great.
After working in the Internet industry since 1999, it’s nice to step out from behind the computer and take a breathe and a drink.
I’m most likely going to start working on a Washington version for my second book and am definitely looking forward to the research on that one.
I’m not leaving the Internet marketing industry at all. I however am going to use it as capital building for my next venture that I am already starting to plan out. I’ve dreamt of opening up my own brewery for a long time and it’s time to make that dream a reality. Yeah, it’s not passive income. However my passive income is what’s going to fund it.
It will be a few years before it’s up and running, but that’s my goal.
I’ll still be launching new campaigns and taking part in the affiliate industry, but it’s time to start pursuing one of my real passions.
Life Changes
On a completely different note, I was blessed to become a dad again on August 22 to a beautiful girl named Macy. If you’ve emailed me since then, sorry if I haven’t replied quickly, life is crazy with 2 kids.
Hopefully it will be sooner than 5 months before my next post and we can get back to marketing talk.

Congratulations on your baby girl! I also just became a father to a beautiful baby girl, on August 5th (already have 2 boys).
Ironic that you fell off the face of the internet right after I found your blog. Cool though, there are plenty of other niche site blogs I follow.
I love the new “niche” you’re getting into as well. I’m from Michigan, and let me tell you – if you feel like traveling across the country to research for another book on craft beer, I have to believe that Michigan is one of the best (if not the very best) states for craft beer. We have microbreweries EVERYWHERE!
I’ve also dabbled in home-brewing a bit – although not as much lately with the busy-ness of life with a house full of kids.
I just subscribed to your beer blog RSS. Great stuff. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with for the future.
Congrats on leveraging your passion, even if its booze. Good example of staying focused, write what you know and make it happen!
Great to hear. Your current adventures go along well with the quote shared at the end of Bryn’s most recent post. Congrats on finishing the book, too. Epic task regardless of the genre.
We don’t blame you for being away at all! Raising 2 kids and dealing with everything else in life is tough.
I’m glad to hear that you got your own book going though. At the end of the day that is the whole point of Affiliate Marketing…to free ourselves from financial stress (and make more than we really need of course
) and spend our new found free time with those we love and the passions we love.
